Born on 18 July 1982, Priyanka clenched Miss World crown in the year 2000 and made the whole nation proud. After her rabble rousing win at the prestigious beauty pageant, she became an international icon and, at the same time, caught the fancy of many filmmakers. Everyone wanted to cast her in their movie and take credit for launching her in the industry. Though PC was inundated with many film offers at that time, she did not show any haste and waited for the right project come her way. Her wait came to an end when filmmaker, Anil Sharma, offered her a role in his film ‘The Hero’ (2003). Priyanka found it quite meaty and finally decided to take a plunge into Bollywood. Equipped with excellent performances, great music and brilliant direction, the movie turned out to be a hit at the box office and launched PC’s career in Bollywood. Her second film was ‘Andaaz’ with Akshay Kumar and another debutant, who also happened to be a beauty queen, Lara Dutta. The film released the same year as ‘The Hero’ and became an instant hit at the ticket window. After delivering two back to back hits, there was no looking back for the diva.

In 2004, Priyanka decided to experiment with her roles, so she signed David Dhawan’s comic caper ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’ opposite Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar. The film was one of the major commercially and critically ventures of the year. The same year, she showed her versatility like never before and went on to do a villainous character in Abbas-Mustan’s ‘Aitzaaz’. The film became a hit and Priyanka garnered unprecedented appreciation for her performance in the movie. After delivering two back to back blockbusters ‘Krrish’ and ‘Don’ in 2006, Priyanka became the reigning queen of Bollywood. Since then, she has appeared in a number of successful films, some of them being ‘Fashion’, ‘Kaminey’, ‘Barfi. ’, ‘Mary Kom’, ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and ‘Jai Gangaajal’. Priyanka is currently busy with the second season of her internationally popular American show, ‘Quantico’ and her Hollywood debut vehicle ‘Baywatch’.
